every time Discord goes down and some fuckface tells people to use Matrix there should be a button I can push on my computer to make them explode

like, sure Steve, everyone you associate with was born with computer code in their sphincter and an umbilical chord connected to an inherited wealth server but most people have other things to do like try to talk to their friends without learning an entire programming language and/or paying lots of money for the privilege of having a server you doink
the same people will mock anyone on the matrix.org server when it goes down, there is no escape
people don't avoid FOSS alternatives because they're uninformed

they avoid them because FOSS shit is mostly complicated, expensive/time consuming, doesn't work properly, or they are forced to avoid it by the shitty people running the code

More reasons: Lack of documentation, localisation or the software cannot be used intuitively.

Developers may design software that fits into their workflow which may be too technical for others. I think they should be told if their software has bugs or needs improvement or documentation.
